Dragon Con
The Client
We love all of our clients, but sometimes we get to geek out a bit and embrace our inner-fandom. That’s what happened with the Dragon Con project. For the uninitiated, Dragon Con is one of the largest pop culture conventions in the world and it’s held annually in Atlanta — our town! — on Labor Day weekend. They came to Black Bear Design because their website didn’t live up to the amazing standard of their convention. As you can see from the before and after screenshots below, that’s no longer the case.
The Challenges
Challenges? We had a few. For one thing, Dragon Con is a HUGE deal. Thousands of people attend the convention each year and hundreds of thousands of people visit the site every day during peak months. Creating a website that pops for hundreds of thousands of sets of eyeballs is daunting, to say the least. The site consists of lots of pages (so… many… pages). Dragon Con had several years’ worth of indexed pages, which meant SEO needed to be updated for each one.
The Results
Dragon Con’s new website is immersive, responsive, and so fresh and so clean (clean). As you can see in the before and after images, the new site leaps over buildings compared to the old one. It’s basically Neo if Neo were a website. The site’s design is catchy, the content is crisp, and the functionality is what you’d expect from Dragon Con’s website. To say we’re proud of the work we did on this project would be a hilarious understatement.
